CIO Council Mission

The CIO Council is composed of leading-edge Chief Information Officers and telecommunications directors from across the nation.

The council identifies and responds to emerging technology issues sometimes before the marketplace recognizes the opportunity or challenge. For example, the first two local governments to establish a website in 1994 are longstanding members of this innovative consortium.

Focus areas for the council include:

Public Policy: This area concerns the relationship between IT and policy and organizational matters that increasingly affect IT professionals. It addresses matters such as procurement, budgeting, planning, strategy, legislation at all levels and potential relationships between the TITC and other organizations (e.g. NASCIO). The legal issues subgroup is part of this area.

Applications and Operations: This area is concerned with the business of IT, including issues such as seat management, security and business continuity, ERP, CRM, data center operations, and the myriad applications that we all work with daily.

Emerging Technologies: This focus area will concentrate on developing technologies, particularly in the mobile and wireless areas, biometrics, broadband and other parts of the telecommunications landscape.
