CIO as Leader & Change Agent in Tough Times

PTI presented this webinar on July 14, 2009.

There can be a silver lining in the dark cloud of the economic climate that technology executives are currently facing. Difficult decisions must be made regarding budgets, staffing and resource allocation.

However, with the difficult times also comes the opportunity for CIOs to develop new strategies for service delivery, to re-examine IT governance models and the role IT plays in the entire enterprise, and to re-tool the IT organization to make it more effective.

During this webinar, Gail Roper, CIO of Austin, TX and Chair of PTI’s CIO Council, highlighted how the CIO can be an effective leader and innovator when difficult decisions need to be made. Ms. Roper spoke about the changes she has made within the IT department in Austin to include:

  • Creating a new IT governance model
  • Identifying quick ways to impact budget and address inefficiencies
  • Documenting IT initiatives and IT Spending
  • Identifying better ways to fund technology initiatives to provide innovation in Austin.
