PTI announces the 2012 CIO & Leadership Summit East, May 17–18 in Boston, MA — Celebrating the theme of the CIO as Chief “Innovation” Officer!

This summit brings together an intimate number of local government technology executives to learn and to share. The agenda for this 1 ½ day summit introduces an interesting and educational mix of presentations and discussions designed to involve all participants.

The theme behind the summit will be the concept of CIO as Chief “Innovation” Officer. In today’s local government environment, CIOs must foster business process re-engineering and change management and promote innovation and departmental collaboration throughout the entire enterprise.

At a time when various local government elected and appointed leaders are questioning the need for a cabinet-level or department-level IT operation, PTI underscores the imperative to devote this summit to identifying tools and practices that IT executives can use to promote the importance of IT within their jurisdiction.

Topics to be explored include:

• Moving from IT to IS – The information technology model moving to the information service model
• Shared services, cloud computing and SAAS: Local government trends
• Mobile apps to improve citizen engagement
• Strategies to motivate technology staff during these times of declining budgets and reduced training opportunities
• Policies and practices for the use of personal devices, or “bring your own technology” in the workplace
• Roundtable Discussion: Top issues that keep the technology executive awake at night.

The 2012 PTI & CIO Leadership Summit East will convene at the Sheraton Boston Hotel, 39 Dalton Street, Boston, Massachusetts.

Ideally located in Back Bay, and just steps from Newbury Street, Copley Square, and Faneuil Hall Marketplace, the hotel is in the heart of one of America’s most historic cities and just blocks from the financial district, Charles River, trendy Newbury Street and Fenway Park.
