PTI Joins Biodetection Information Collection and Sharing Effort
A key element in mounting effective responses to biological attacks is effective and efficient information sharing. While this is especially true in the initial hours after detection, oftentimes uncertainty about the detection and jurisdictional responsibilities complicate the process.
Within the National Capital Region (NCR), the Homeland Security Studies and Analysis Institute (HSSAI), in support of the Department of Homeland Security, worked with key regional stakeholders and developed a detailed Concept of Operations (CONOPS) that key jurisdictions within the NCR will follow in the event of the detection of a biological attack.
Through its network of local public safety and public health officials, Public Technology Institute (PTI) is providing assistance in the areas of exercise and evaluation support, and local government feedback. The long-term goal of the project is to provide a model for biodetection information sharing that is applicable to a wide range of local and regional authorities.
