Transportation Council Mission
Local government officials joined to form the Transportation Council in order to provide a voice for cities and counties on transportation issues, and to research and exchange ideas to improve quality of life, reduce traffic congestion and improve economic development in their communities.
These officials are concerned with intelligent transportation systems (ITS), public safety, sustainable mobility, wireless communications, transportation funding strategies, GIS, international exchanges and transportation system operations and management.
Mission
- Identify local government transportation technology issues, priorities and solutions;
- Provide leadership and voice for local government to international, national and federal transportation decisionmakers;
- Involve local governments in development of standards and systems architecture for a nationally compatible intelligent transportation system;
- Conduct technology pilot testing within Council jurisdictions; and
- Exchange information on innovative solutions to local government transportation problems.
