What Local Governments Need to Know About Round Two of the Federal Broadband Grants Program

PTI presented this webinar on February 4, 2010.

The Commerce Department’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) and USDA’s Rural Utilities Service (RUS) have made available $4.8 billion in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) grants and loans to expand broadband access and adoption in America. This is the second funding round for the agencies’ broadband programs.

This webinar was intended to help local governments interested in applying for Round Two funding.

It examined the differences between the Round One and Round Two application process and highlighted the types of projects that will be considered in Round Two.

An Introduction to Web 2.0: How and Why Local Governments are Using These Tools Today (Session I)

PTI and the International Municipal Lawyers Association (IMLA) presented this webinar on February 3, 2010.

In 2010 IMLA and PTI offer four web seminars on the policy implications of the use of Web 2.0 and social media tools by city and county governments.

This first session in the series served as a primer on social networking. It covered questions such as:

Introduction to Driving Change

PTI presented this webinar on October 27, 2009.

Driving Change, the world’s first vehicular greenhouse gas (GHG) management and reduction solution, was successfully piloted by the City and County of Denver in 2008. Participants in the program decreased engine idling and improved other driving behaviors that resulted in lower fuel consumption and reduced GHG emissions and fuel costs.

CIO as Leader & Change Agent in Tough Times

There can be a silver lining in the dark cloud of the economic climate that technology executives are currently facing. Difficult decisions must be made regarding budgets, staffing and resource allocation.

Broadband Stimulus Webinar

Broadband Funding

The Federal Broadband Stimulus Package provides $7 billion on a competitive grant and loan basis to local governments, non-profits and other entities that meet a public interest test for constructing and operating "ready to go" wired and wireless broadband systems, and for providing broadband networks and community support facilities to public safety, schools, libraries, medical and health-care providers, community colleges and job-creating strategic facilities.
