As the only technology organization created by and for cities and counties, PTI works with a core network of leading local government officials—the PTI membership—to identify opportunities for technology research, to share solutions and recognize member achievements, and develop best practices that address the technology management, governance and policy issues that impact local government.

Officials from PTI member governments participate in Councils and Forums that address specific technology areas. Citizen-Engaged Communities Designation Program

PTI’s Citizen-Engaged Communities is a special designation program that will provide multi-channel government contact centers with:

• A Roadmap for Success     • Process and Technology Support     • National Recognition

Local governments are challenged today to provide centralized citizen contact centers that effectively utilize new technology for fast, friendly and responsive service.

This seamless service must engage citizens through multi-channels, empower citizens by enabling direct interaction, and then demonstrate accountability through performance reporting, not just for calls but also for service delivery.

Five Tools CIOs Must Embrace in 2010

By PTI CIO Clifford Clarke

As PTI’s current CIO and as a former jurisdictional Chief Information Officer (CIO) I am quite familiar with the “go slow” approach local governments take with rapidly changing technologies.

There are numerous reasons for this chosen pace. CIOs do not want to be seen as chasing the next hyped technology and therefore become out of alignment with the business unit. CIOs prefer to have others dull the bleeding edge of new technology adoption, preferring to wait and see that bugs are remediated and the hardware or software are more aggressively and broadly tested and deployed.

For more than 38 years, ESRI has supported organizations in the design, development, and implementation of geographic-based information management systems. More than 300,000 organizations have come to benefit from a strong relationship with ESRI for ongoing GIS-related products and services, including two-thirds of Fortune 500 companies, each of the 200 largest cities in the United States, countless government agencies, and more than 7,000 colleges and universities.

ESRI offers a complete range of GIS products and services including software, database design and development, customized applications programming, training, and installation. ESRI GIS software packages—ArcGIS Desktop (ArcInfo, ArcEditor, ArcView), ArcIMS, and ArcGIS Server—are the most widely used in the world.

We are the only GIS vendor that offers a complete geospatial solution. ArcGIS Desktop provides GIS capability for desktop users, while ArcIMS and ArcGIS Server provide server solutions for distributing geospatial data over the Internet and throughout the enterprise. ArcSDE technology spatially enables all commercial database management systems (DBMSs), allowing GIS information to be used in virtually any organization. We also offer solution-specific products, including ArcGIS Engine for embedded GIS and a wide variety of software extensions to address specific business needs.

For more than 25 years, we have built open and interoperable software products. We advocate open access to geographic data and software functionality through widely adopted, practical standards. Because we believe that the relationship between GIS technology and the rest of the IT infrastructure is crucial, our software tools support and integrate with virtually all commonly accepted standards.

For you, this means compatibility and interoperability support with major enterprise systems such as enterprise resource planning, customer resource management, enterprise application integration, work management systems, and others.

We also offer support, educational, and professional services to help you maximize your investment in our GIS software through personalized care. We provide training solutions for all budgets and schedules, and our technical support staff is available to answer any questions you have while using ESRI software. Our professional services team can also guide you through the entire GIS implementation process.

DeliveryHub can be configured for all levels of users, with built-in best practice templates that can be applied as-is or quickly adapted to your organization. Having a single, easy-to-use tool eases the training and support burden.

  • Change management and lifecycle management processes and documentation are included for all levels of portfolio and project management.
  • Built-in industry standard best practices help with compliance and governance throughout a project.
  • Data “snapshots” maintained throughout the process allow historical review of any point in time.
  • “What if” resource planning allows you to enter dates and resources ahead, and gauge the effect before acting.

Because it relies on standard Microsoft tools and technology, Pcubed DeliveryHub is cost effective and can be fully supported by your in-house IT team.
