State of City & County IT 2008 National Survey
Thirty-eight percent of local government information technology budgets will decrease over the next two years as a result of the economic slowdown, according to the results of a national survey conducted by Public Technology Institute (PTI) and INPUT.

NYC Housing Authority Named a PTI Innovation Lab

Public Technology Institute (PTI) has recognized the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) as an Innovation Lab for its Broadband over Power Line (BPL) in-building network proof of concept.
PTI is a national, non-profit technology research and development organization created by and for cities and counties. Its Innovation Lab program – a “mark of excellence” - recognizes a local government for the successful deployment of a technology solution or practice.

Local Government Energy Assurance Guidelines
A new publication on energy security for cities and counties is now available at no charge from Public Technology Institute (PTI).
"Protecting and enhancing the resiliency of the energy sector from natural and human-caused disasters requires local governments to be vigilant and aware of the interdependencies of the system," said PTI executive director Alan Shark. "This guide provides a valuable resource for local governments as they examine and enhance their energy assurance efforts."
Local Government Energy Assurance Guidelines underscores the importance of preparing an energy assurance plan and offers a model tool to help officials assess their readiness in case of an energy emergency in their community.
